FAQ
Why should I use a pick made out of wood?
This is the question we get asked the most. The answer in one word is - TONE! Wooden picks will give you a different sound. Generally speaking it is a warmer tone and the attack is different than a plastic pick. The really cool thing is that all of our picks sound slightly different depending on the type of wood they are made from.
There are many environmental reasons as well. We plant a tree for every package we sell, and wooden picks will eventually compost much faster than a plastic pick.
However, we here at Tree Picks are musicians and the main reason we like to use a pick made out of wood is because of how it sounds.
Where is my order? When will it arrive?
After you place your order, you will receive 2 emails. The first email is a confirmation email saying that we received the order. It should be received immediately after placing your order. The second email will be sent when your order has been shipped to you.
If you selected "Free Shipping," when you checked out, your order will be sent through regular mail and therefore will not come with a tracking number. If you selected a paid shipping option, the tracking will be included in the second email. If you click on the tracking number, it should have an estimated arrival date from the shipping carrier.
If your order is being shipped to a Canadian address and you selected "Free shipping" :
Orders being sent to Canada ship from Calgary, AB and can take anywhere from 3 - 8 business days depending on where in Canada it is being shipped to. If you think there may be a problem or you feel like your order is taking too long to arrive please email us and we will look into it.
If your order is being shipped to any other country other than Canada and you selected "Free shipping" :
International orders can take between 2 - 4 weeks to arrive. It varies depending on the country. We have shipped to over 30 countries and still find it hard to predict. Orders going to the UK usually take around 2 weeks. Orders to Europe can take 2-3 weeks. Orders to Australia take about 3 weeks. If you think there may be a problem or you feel like your order is taking too long to arrive please email us and we will look into it.
Does Tree Picks really plant a tree for every package they sell?
Yes! Well, we don't physically plant the trees ourselves. We're busy making guitar picks. However, a tree gets planted for every pack of picks you order.
In 2026 we partnered with another Canadian company, The Good API. They plant trees for us. They plant trees all over the world and they remove plastic from oceans as well. To learn more about The Good API visit their website.
Is Tree Picks a charity? Why do you plant trees?
Tree Picks is not a charity. We believe that a business can do their part to make a world a better place and be profitable at the same time. The cost of planting trees is built into the price of the picks.
Does Tree Picks really ship for free anywhere in the world?
Currently, we can't ship to the United States, however we offer free shipping to every other country on earth. Guitar picks are small and don't weigh much so we can send them through regular mail. It may take a little bit longer to get to you, but you won't pay for shipping. However, shipping rates may apply to some apparel, and accessories. Sometimes it can take us up to 2 business days to process your order and get it in the mail, but most of the time it happens on the next business day or even on the same day as your order.
Where are your picks made?
All our picks are made from start to finish in Calgary, Canada.
Will the picks break?
No. We've never had an issue with our picks breaking from regular use.
How do they wear?
The short answer is they will wear a little faster than a plastic pick. The long answer is, it depends on a few factors. We like to say that a wooden pick is not bullet proof however you can expect to get a lot of play out of them.
How fast they wear depends on three main factors:
1. How hard the player strums or attacks the strings. Some people play much harder than others. The pick will wear differently depending on your playing style.
2. The type of wood. Our purple heart wood is a much harder wood than our cherry wood pick, so the purple heart pick will last longer. The type of wood makes a difference.
3. How much you play. If you play for an hour a day, it will obviously wear down faster than if you play for an hour a week.
What is your return policy?
